The Vinicase and VR Professionnel alcoves are made out of stone powder from the Comblanchien Quarries (Cote de Nuits in Burgundy, France) and mixed with white cement creating a natural color reinforcing the aesthetic of the products. Both the quality and density of this material offer an important inert, thermal mass which creates a great temperature stability surrounding the bottles. This is what helps achieve optimal wine conservation.
The different depths of the alcove facilitate reversed stacking of all types of bottles (Burgundy, Bordeaux, Champagne, etc.) and assures optimal stability.
Reversed stacking offers optimal wine conservation and enables an appreciated gain of space as well. The necks of the wine bottles, their most sensitive area, are stacked in this ideal position to protect them from unwanted temperature variation and excessive light because the bottles are racked head first( see Wine Cellar Advice). Labels are visible without manipulation, which interferes with desired settling of the wine. Removable separating shelves can be placed at different heights which helps with organization and separation of your bottles by 4, 6, 12, 24, ... according to the alcove's dimension and model.
Vinicase: the smaller version of the racking systems. Most commonly used in personal homes, wine stores and purveyor tasting rooms, this system allows for easy organization of smaller quantities and larger varieties of bottles. These alcoves have three different heights and one single depth: 43cm.
VR Professionnel: the larger version of the racking systems. Most commonly used in sizable private wine cellars, hotels, restaurants, and vineyards. This system allows for storage of significant quantities of bottles. The VR Professionnel's various heights are 41 cm, 61 cm and 92 cm, and its various depths are 50 cm or 61 cm. In line with the chosen depth and use, stacking can be double or triple reversed and alcoves can contain up to 342 bottles classified and organized due to the removable separating shelves.
